Lizards and cruel living things lie around and relax in the sun to keep themselves warm. Kristopher Karsten of Texas Christian University after a study says that Lizards stretch out for keeping steady temperature, the process called as thermoregulation. The basking behavior for Chameleons is also made to control and adjust Vitamin D, which they get from the UV radiation to their skin. The Chameleons are able to calculate the amount of vitamin D and accordingly expose to the Sun to gain the vitamins. Chameleons with low vitamin D increased their exposure to the sun and it was the other way round for the chameleons with high vitamin D. An amazing accuracy made by a reptile what a human cannot do.
